Pastor of El Bethel Assembly, Light of the World Mission Inc.

Bishop Clarence W. Montgomery Jr. was born June 21, 1942 in Manhattan, New York to the late Rev. Clarence Montgomery Sr. and Overseer Marybell Montgomery.   He is also the grandson of Bishop Brumfield Johnson, Founder of Mount Calvary Holy Church of America.  

The eldest of 5 siblings, the family moved to Buffalo, NY in 1947.  Bishop Montgomery married the former Lottie P. Capps March 9, 1963 in Buffalo, New York.  He is the proud Father of 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.

As a young man Bishop Montgomery’s early education was in the Buffalo Public School System where he attended P.S. #74, 53 & 87.  He graduated from Burgard Vocational High School in 1962.

As an adult Bishop Montgomery was a loyal employee at the Buffalo Color Corporation.  During those years he attended Canisius College, The University of Buffalo and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute completing various accredited courses furthering his career at Buffalo Color Corporation.  He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor in 1998 after 34 years of service. 

Bishop Montgomery answered the call of God in 1994 as a member of the Mount Calvary Holy Church Inc. in Buffalo, New York.  After graduating from Houghton College Pastoral and Church Ministry in 1997, he was ordained and received his license as an Elder at the Washington D.C. Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church of America by Bishop Harold I. Williams the presiding Prelate of the organization.

Bishop Montgomery served as an Associate Minister at Mt. Calvary Holy Church Inc., Chairman of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher and New York State Comptroller for Mt. Calvary Holy Church of America.

 Sunday, October 9, 2005 Bishop Montgomery was installed as Pastor of El Bethel Assembly, formerly known as “The Michigan Street Baptist Church”.  After serving three years as Pastor he was elevated to the Office of Bishop on July 13, 2008 by the presiding Prelate of Light of the World Missions Inc., Bishop William H. Henderson.

Bishop Clarence Montgomery continues to serve as Shepard of his congregation, New York State Controller and Chairman of the Presbytery Board of Light of the World Missions Inc.
